Up, Up And Away ... and then back down to earth?

Many people have asked me, and by many I mean about 3, what I do once the show has finished. Normally, I pop home, have some dinner, listen to show back and make the podcast before I go to bed with a nice cup of hot chocolate and Wedding Crashers on the DVD player, mainly because it is stuck in there and I have no choice. Bollocks to routine. I am a student and as a student, I get discounts when I go to cinema. So thats what I did. I went to see Up. The latest hit animated film from Pixar Land that has taken the 5-9 year old market by storm.

Behold my review. It's very good and worth the discount. The main character is crafted beautiful with a compelling and realistic development to him which means even the adults can understand the fragility of life and helium. The animal interaction is superb, and the story flows elegantly. Just a few issues I have though. On an episode of Brainiac, it took 17,000 helium balloons to lift a man off the ground yet here it takes just a couple of hundred to lift a house. I will forgive their physics department at Pixar Land, purely because they probably use plasticine alot to make models of dinosaurs rather than making logical decisions. Also, the story was at times was predicatble and boring, but again forgivable and the 3D aspects of the film sort of just stopped after half an hour so I looked like a goofball in sunglassess. Yet, the one thing I can't shake off was the knowledge that I enjoyed the animated short before the film about clouds alot more than the film itslef. Maybe I'm a sucker for nature.

Overall though a film worth seeing but not worth the extra money for 3D. Go on a wednesday and use orange wednesday. Thats my advice.
